  • Spending Less Time Making More Money
    Author : Scott Lindsay

So you want to head home to work so you don't have so much work to do and you want more time to have fun, right? But this is a utopian dream, a nirvana like existence that is more fairy tale than fact Right?

    Maybe not

Honestly, part of the reason many want to go home to work is so they can ultimately work less overall hours, make a reasonable (or even excessive) amount of cash and enjoy life instead of allowing the need to accumulate funds drive any enjoyment from the process of living

I'm a strong advocate of working hard in your home based business Having said that you need to know that it is possible to spend fewer hours making more money and being significantly less stressed

    How does that happen?

Well, to be honest it won't work in all situations There are some conditions that must be in place for this to work

    Networking

You can work fewer hours if you have the skills needed to network with other individuals who have a similar passion to yours I'll explain more in just a moment

    Organizing

If you can keep track of multiple projects at any given time then you might be an ideal candidate for working less and making more If you struggle with this you can still work harder to learn the skills and transfer the sweat equity of organization into something that can pay you very well

    Customer Service

If you can work to engage customers in a very empathetic way you may do well in working less and making more Customers need to know that you're on the case and that their concerns will be taken care of

    Employer

Ah, yes Did I forget to mention that in this work at home idea you will need to employ others? This may be a problem for some, but this is essentially subcontract work so these individuals won't really be on your payroll You will, however, need to know how to manage the individuals you will work with

    How does this work?

You will essentially become a broker for a service or products You might develop a business that delivers content to customers for use on websites or in print You could do all the work yourself or you could develop a network where the customer orders from you and you allow one of your 'writers' to complete the assignment You would keep part of the fee and would send the rest on to the writer You facilitated the opportunity for two individuals with needs to get together and you keep some of the profit Look at it this way Maybe you could write 5 10 articles a day if you really work hard - OR - you could broker delivery of 50 articles a day making more money, but never actually needing to write an article

This works with products as well If you have an order you can allow others to assemble to the product and you retain some of the transaction amount

    The Downside

Initially this may be difficult as you try to establish credibility It can also be tough when a subcontractor returns substandard work In these cases the end result falls to you to correct or make good You will also need to deal with the individual who sent inferior work

There will be time needed to find a trusted team to manage the projects you find In some cases becoming a broker of services can indeed allow you to spend less time making more money

  • For Employers Making The Best Job Descriptions
    Author : Loren Yadeski

Job descriptions are important especially when handling your employees And in order to create the best job description, you need to understand their work very well By understanding, you can have a good impression to your employees, as well as you will have a solid background on the company's purpose of organizing all the employees and staffs Here are some of the guidelines that can help you in making the best job descriptions

    - Recognize Goal Do you dread in writing job descriptions? Keeping focused on the goal and communication which will simplify the process Job descriptions don t just communicate required duties by your employers; they also clarify your organization s purpose and its effectiveness

    - Study Job As the first step in writing a job description, you need to study the job itself This process job analysis gives an overview of your organization s functions A study determines the essential functions of a job and in order to determine key assignments You can perform a job analysis by looking at similar job descriptions within other similar companies By interviewing those who do the job, results can be achieved in the most specific data

    - Learn Legal Restrictions You are not, in most cases, mandated by law to create job descriptions for your employees On a more positive note, job descriptions, once in place, have the force of law They are treated as legal documents, providing grounds for removing employees who do not meet written expectations

    - Classify Once you have an understanding of their jobs and its place in your organization, you can start the writing process by placing the job functions into categories Categories common to job descriptions include position title, department name, supervisor s name, job objectives, essential functions and experience or skills required Some job descriptions even include salary and benefits

    - Write These classifications provide a readymade outline for your job description In writing this document, concentrate on your use of language As indicated earlier, you want to avoid words that suggest racial, gender, age or physical prejudice Be careful in describing the qualifications Don t write that an employee must be able bodied or a recent college graduate Use active rather than passive voice throughout the document as well Your receptionist answers the phone; it s not answered by your receptionist Also provide specific duties rather than general ones Instead of writing that your secretary produces documentation, list the types of documents produced and their purpose

    - Analyze So now you have finally finished writing your job description You can try passing it on to someone else to review it, ideally someone who has performed the job involved Most organizations will also require further review as the job description is forwarded up the organizational ladder

    - Modify You should immediately incorporate valid feedback into the job description Since jobs, like everything else, constantly evolve, you can expect to be making periodic changes to the job description in the future as well Writing job descriptions provides frequent opportunities for you to expand your understanding of your employees and your organization

  • Why Data Entry is the Best Money Making Program in 2009
    Author : Kausar Khan

There are many work from home business and employment opportunities but data entry has come out to be the most prominent and popular program by far The internet presents tons of opportunities but fraudsters too are trying to cash in on your hard work Many scam sites will try to convince you that earning money online is quick The truth is that there is no quick and easy way to make money online because the amount of money you earn depends entirely on the hard work you input, what you invest in and how efficient you are in whatever you are doing

Data entry is simple This is because it involves filling online entries and forms with data from another site or from web documents Companies use this data to promote a particular company or product When the forms you fill are used to attract customers and make sells, you will earn commission for the part you played in that transaction You will still be entitled to a commission if the product or company does not sell

The best thing about home based data entry is that you will be your own boss, you will have an opportunity to manage your own time and resources and the input you invest in your work will earn you corresponding returns A number of data entry workers report earning between $250 and $750 daily just copying and pasting data online However, if you are a beginner, finding a job alone can be tricky and at times is so frustrating that many aspiring workers give up even before their first job

To get started in data entry, you will need to look for and find a legitimate data entry program Once you join it, you will have access to companies who are in need of data entry workers There are also membership sites that train their workers on the best work ethics, how to apply for jobs and general online etiquettes related to online data entry A user will be exposed to simple instructions, structured lessons and even tests in some programs

Some of these programs charge a small amount of money for you to join their programs Upon registration, you will have access to the member area that often has very useful and powerful tools to assist you perform data entry jobs efficiently, interact with buyers and other members Other materials you will find useful are training materials, tips, newsletters, news and lists of the best paying companies

A point to note is that income in data entry is based on hard work, dedication and relentless persistence to learn more about the job Filling forms may be easy but many workers end up frustrated because they do not follow the right instructions of the buyer or fail to observe basic requirements in executing the tasks In this business, time is also of essence and if you are time conscious, you will stand a greater chance to success in online data entry

  • How to Earn Extra Money This Holiday Season
    Author : EM Downing

Regardless of the state of the economy, many people find themselves a little strapped for money around the holidays Heating costs, food for holiday gatherings, holiday travel costs, and gifts all factor in to making November through January the most expensive time of the year Luckily, as much as this time of year can cost more, there are more opportunities to make a little bit of money to offset these inflated expenses Below, we'll share with you the top five ways to earn a little extra cash over the holidays

    Tip 5 - Manual Labor

Fall is called "fall" for a reason Leaves fall off of trees and if they just stay on people's lawns it is bad for the grass underneath That's why they invented rakes One thing about raking - people hate to do it That's why they invented leaf blowers So, if you invest in a leaf blower, you can take care of people's leaves for them without having to rake people's leaves? Easy enough, right? Once the snow starts falling; you can shovel snow for extra dough - or use a little of your leaf blowing money to invest in a snow blower Other things to consider - cleaning out gutters, hanging holiday lights, and winterizing windows with that shrink wrap stuff

    Tip 4 - Babysit

Let your friends, family, and coworkers know that you're available to babysit during holiday shopping excursions ( a nightmare chore when you have to bring the little ones along), and during holiday parties If you're a bona fide adult with some experience taking care of kids you can likely charge about $10 per hour And once people find out you're willing to babysit word travels fast You'll be fielding calls left and right Just make sure you keep plenty of crayons, coloring books, and kid friendly movies on hand you'll be their favorite babysitter in no time!

Tip 3 - Hawk Your Stuff

You could start randomly selling stuff on Ebay, but remember that you have to pay to put stuff up there If you've already got an account that's great, and you can start your spring cleaning a little early and get rid of unwanted, but still good quality stuff Of course, if you've got lots of good stuff, don't forget about the option of re gifting One man's trash, et cetera, Another great idea is to sell your old gold through a respectable online company You can contact them and they send you a bag to put your stuff in You put your old gold, silver, your old silverware, and your old gold coins in the bag, send it off, and payday! Pretty easy, if you've got that kind of stuff sitting around your house

    Tip 2 - Get Crafty

Etsy com is a website that sells exclusively hand crafted items For a small fee you can sign up and post your wares If you're a craft type of person, this is a good way to sell your handmade goods and make a name for yourself If you are in need of a little more instant gratification cash, sign up for a craft fair or holiday bazaar and man a booth with your stuff If you are more of a Betty Crocker type, try making some cookies or candies to give as gifts or sell to friends and coworkers Everybody loves a little sweetness during the holiday season

    Tip 1 - Retail

Many retailers hire on extra help for the holiday shopping season You could get hired and trained before Black Friday, and work those crazy holiday shifts to get some extra money The best part of all of it? You will likely get an employee discount, so don't apply for places you don't want to shop In addition to making some money, you can save some money too Talk about getting more bang for your buck!

Whatever ways you decide to bring in extra cash this year, make sure you do it safely, and make sure you save enough time and energy for your friends and family Because that's what the holiday season is really about, after all

  • Job Search Myths
    Author : Jason Kay

Think you know everything there is to know about getting a job? Not so fast There are lots of myths floating around that people have come to accept as fact Check out some of the most common myths below, and get one step closer to scoring a job you'll love

    - Help wanted ads are the best place to hunt for a job The first places people look when they want or need a new job is online job boards and newspaper classifieds Why? Because it's easy and requires virtually no effort on the job seeker's part—which is why everybody does it That's a huge problem in a tight job market You might be very good at what you do, but are you better than all 50,000 people looking at the same ad that you are? By all means, use help wanted ads as a jumping off point for your search, but if you stop there, you'll be looking for work for a long, long time Contact the career center at your alma mater, call placement agencies (what used to be known as "temp agencies"), and talk to people you know about job leads

    - I don't have anyone to network with Networking is often the most difficult avenue for job seekers, but it can offer the best results No one wants to feel like a charity case by asking friends and family members to hook them up with a job, but the trick to networking is to think of it as a relationship building process Go outside of your immediate circle and chat up everyone from people at your church to other parents at your kid's fundraiser to your fellow gym goers Ask them about their career, their company, and what they like and dislike about both Everyone likes talking about themselves, and before you know it, you'll have built a rapport Eventually, these new friends will be happy to share job leads and contacts

    - There's no need to resend a resume You sent your resume to Company X two years ago when they posted a job you were interested in, so they probably still have it on file, right? Wrong Most organizations keep resumes for a year (at the outside), so unless you sent one a few weeks ago, send it again Besides, if it's been a while since they looked at your resume, you've probably—hopefully!—racked up more accomplishments that they should be aware of

    - You can't overcome a resume gap If you're currently between jobs, you may think that employers will send your resume straight to the circular file once they detect that gap in work history Because of this myth, some job seekers are tempted to blur the lines of truth in order to cover it up Don't Especially in today's tough economy where thousands of talented people have been downsized through no fault of their own, employers are very willing to accept some out of work time as a norm

    - Your resume should demonstrate your mastery over everything in the work world True, you want to come off as an expert in your field, but employers don't care—and may not believe—that you can design a high rise building, have memorized all one million tax laws, and can perform brain surgery if the need arises You need to focus on a couple of areas that match the job for which you're applying If you're an outstanding salesperson as well as an intensive care nurse, you need two resumes tailored to best display your strengths and accomplishments in each field Dual careers make interesting water cooler talk after you're hired, but they're just confusing—and unnecessary—on your resume

    - Your salary requirements should be next to nothing When jobs are tough to come by, it's tempting to tell potential employers that you'll work for a pittance—heck, you'll pay them to work there But unless you're changing careers entirely or just starting out in the work world, that's a mistake It's not unusual for someone from HR to call and conduct a brief screening before bringing you in for an interview, and part of that typically involves asking about your salary requirements Give them a range if you don't feel comfortable with an exact figure, but be sure that you'll be satisfied with a salary anywhere in that range Firms really don't like to be given one salary during the screening and another (higher) salary during negotiations
